Snowmobiling is a sport that truly comes alive with exciting events, and there's always something cool happening across North America! While we're currently in June, meaning many of the major on-snow events have wrapped up for the winter season, there's still plenty of buzz and anticipation for the upcoming winter, as well as year-round happenings.
Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 winter, you'll want to keep an eye on iconic events like the Amsoil Championship Snocross series, which features high-flying, adrenaline-pumping racing at various locations throughout the winter. Dates are already being announced for events like the Mt. Zion National in December 2024, the U.S. Air Force National in Shakopee, Minnesota in January 2025, and the season finale Amsoil National in Duluth, Minnesota, in April 2025. Another must-see is the Eagle River World Championship Snowmobile Derby in Eagle River, Wisconsin, often dubbed the "Snowmobile Capital of the World." This prestigious event, celebrating its 60th anniversary in January 2023, attracts tens of thousands of spectators and the sport's top ice oval and snocross racers. Other notable race series include the Cor Powersports and MIRA circuits.
Beyond the competitive circuit, there are also significant industry events and gatherings. Hay Days, a classic fall event, is a huge outdoor show and swap meet that kicks off the snowmobiling season, where manufacturers like Polaris often unveil their new models. Speaking of new models, keep an eye out for announcements regarding the 2026 Polaris Snowmobile lineup and the 2026 Ski-Doo Lineup, which have seen recent news regarding innovations and refinements. These unveilings often include sneak peek tours and dealer launch events that offer fans a chance to see the latest sleds up close. Additionally, organizations like the Snowmobile Hall of Fame host events such as the "Ride With The Champs" and Induction Ceremony, celebrating the legends of the sport. The 2025 inductees (Scott Davis, Chester Duval, David Shepherd, and Gary & Bruce Vessair) have already been announced, with the ceremony set for February 15, 2025, in St. Germaine, Wisconsin.
While the snow might be melting now, the snowmobiling world is always buzzing with activity, from new product development to planning for the next exciting season of races, rides, and gatherings. Make sure to check out official event calendars from organizations like SnowGoer and the New York State Snowmobile Association for specific dates and details as the cooler weather approaches!
